Flutter Analysis: For Safer Air Travel
Recent aviation accidents have revealed deficiencies in engines and maintenance processes and emphasized the importance of thorough preflight checks. History also shows that structural phenomena such as flutter can cause serious accidents, such as the crash of the F-117. To increase safety, flutter tests are now a central part of aircraft development. With the industry-wide “shift left” approach, early, multidisciplinary FSI simulations are becoming increasingly important as they more accurately represent the interaction between aerodynamics and structure, thereby improving the reliability of modern aircraft.
