Handling automotive simulations can be challenging because of the massive amount of data and the complexity of integrating CAD data from multiple sources. A raw CAD extracted from a central PLM system may contain millions of surfaces with errors, irrelevant sections, missing parts, and conflicting geometries. This requires engineers to load and clean CAD parts one at a time, a time-consuming task. Automation is necessary to limit user input to a minimum. After cleaning, the geometry must be meshed with the lowest possible cell count that still captures the desired geometrical details and physical flow features to ensure the simulation’s predictive accuracy. This necessitates an efficient mesher that places cells only where necessary and a fast and accurate solver that produces an accurate flow solution without unreasonable grid refinements.
